It is done!
On the last four days of Navaratri, and with the blessings of Kali/Durga and all the Goddesses I prayed to, 7 GRACES completed its four day run at the avant garde JOYCE SOHO theatre for contemporary dance in New York City.
Opening night coincided with Saraswati Puja and closing night was Dussera! Serendipity and nothing else!
Small but rapt audiences watched daily in pin drop silence for the 51 minutes of the show. Julie Ana Dobo who adapted the original lighting design for the JOYCE space was a wonderful support and thoroughly professional!
Opening night had my friend actor/performer Rajika Puri leading a short TALK BACK after the show. Aroon Shivdasani of IAAC, the official presenter, also hosted an opening night reception for the audience on October 18.
Dancing TARA daily has been like telling my life story.
The visual images assembled with the assistance of Tim McHenry of the RUBIN MUSEUM OF ART in New York City worked wonderfully as a projection in the background.
My feet hurt, my heart sings and my body needs a long and loving massage…
I carry memories and images of New York with me as I head out to LA and DC for my second week of shows..
This time it is
about HER in four chapters..
and
TARA continues to be a part of that narrative too!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to address such diverse audiences in so many cities during this tour! Thanks to all who came and shared the energy and sensuality of TARA…
I close now with a comment from friend and former collaborator, Bharatanatyam dancer Jaan Freeman.

7 GRACES was a really "moving program." Wow, to capture and hold an audience for 60 min in a solo contemporary performance is an achievement. It was an award winning program and it is still on my mind. You have always been one of my most admired artistes.
