On Thursday, April 22nd, CitySaheli and ShaadiStudio will present A Night of Glitz and Glam with Shyamal & Bhumika. Wednesday, April 21st

SABNY: 7th Annual Public Interest Fellowship Benefit
The South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABNY) established the Public Interest Fellowship to help support law students who spend their summers working in unpaid legal internships that provide services to underserved communities in the New York area.  Help support the fellowship by attending this year’s benefit.  Guest speaker for the evening is Sameer Ashar, the Associate Dean for Clinical Programs, Associate Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law and teacher for the Immigration and Refugee Rights and Community Economic Development Clinics. Wine, Beer & Food will be served!

Tuesday – Sunday, April 20th -25th

Engendered Dance Festival 2010
On a trailblazing mission to challenge the static tropes and clichés entrenched in classical, contemporary, modern, and popular dance forms, The Engendered Dance Festival, proudly hosts dozens of South Asian artists and choreographers from India, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Canada, and America for a series of performances, workshops, panel discussions, master classes, and parties in the New York tri-state area from Tuesday, April 20 to Sunday, April 25. In signature style, Engendered, a trans-national arts and human rights organization focused on creating awareness around issues of gender and sexuality in South Asia and its Diaspora, will introduce New York dance enthusiasts to a range of performances from established and emerging dance companies and soloists, marginalized voices in dance from Pakistan and Afghanistan, and two world premieres (created that week) incorporating classical and contemporary dance with technology with visual art.

Shyamal & Bhumika Trunk Show
You met the designers on Thursday night and got to see their new collections.  Now is your chance to do a little shopping for yourself.

The Blue Mug
Bollywood stars descend on stage to bring this hilarious Hindi and English play for the first time in the US.  The Blue Mug is a devised piece of theatre in which actors Rajat Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Munish Bhardwaj and Vinay Pathak go down the path of their personal memories – their childhood, adolescence and youth, and also immediate past in their middle age. The play depicts the larger canvas of Indian memory through monologues and improvised scenes between the actors.

Sikh Day Parade
Sikh Cultural Society of NY along brings the Annual Sikh Parade in NYC. With over 12 Floats, 6 Marching Bands and with the entire Sikh Sangat from the East Coast, this year is guaranteed to be a big turnout.  This year’s parade route starts at 11:30am on Madison Avenue and 36th Street. As always, delicious food will be served.

New York Dating and Matchmaking Events
GlobalD8, the UK’s most trusted professional South Asian dating company had scheduled three dating events for this week – April 21st, 23rd and 24th.  Due to travel conditions, however, these events have been postponed to the following dates and times.

May 3rd – May 9th
