Prachi Dalal the Dance Director of Indo-American Arts Council interviewed about the upcoming Erasing Borders: Festival of Indian Dance. The Indo-American Arts Council is proud to announce the first annual Erasing Borders: Festival of Indian Dance August 18-21 2008 An exciting four-day festival of Indian dance is taking place in New York City. * FREE PERFORMANCES in collaboration with Battery Dance Company’s Downtown Dance festival at Chase Manhattan Plaza (Nassau & Liberty St), on August 18 & 19. * EVENING CONCERTS at the Ailey Citigroup Theater (405 W. 55th St at 9th Ave), on August 20 & 21. This Festival will include live performances, panel discussions, lectures, film screenings and workshops. The festival is a first-of-its-kind in New York that seeks to bring together dancers sharing movement, heritage and inspiration from the Indian subcontinent. It will feature artists from India and the South Asian Diaspora and the presentations will range from traditional classical repertoire to contemporary, modern and post-modern works that are inspired by India or Indian dance vocabulary.
