Synopsis: Mira Nair’s Academy Award nominated film and winner of Cannes 1988’s Camera d'Or celebrates its 21st anniversary. The celebrated film was shot entirely on location and tells the story of a group of children surviving on the streets of Bombay. Shafiq Syed, a rag-picker in real life, plays the leading role of Krishna, an abandoned 10-year-old country boy who hopes to earn 500 rupees so he can go back home. This lively, yet unsentimental, look at the resilience of India's street children also features Chanda Sharma, Nana Patekar, Hansa Vithal, and Raghubir Yadav. Mira Nair in person.
