PEECEE'S PUNJABI FILM IN NY

Priyanka Chopra’s first Punjabi production, Sarvann, will be screened at the New York International Film Festival (NYIFF) starting April 30. The film is directed by Karaan Guliani and features Amrinder Gill, Simi Chahal and Ranjit Bawa and traces the journey of an NRI, Mithu, who returns to India in search of his roots. The film released in India on January 13. NYIFF will open with Alankita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha which has been mired in controversy after it was refused a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification because “the story is lady oriented” and there are “contanious sexual scenes, abusive words”, among otherd. Sarvann will be screened on May 4.
