ONE NIGHT FOR MUMBAI

Chartres Lodging Hosts a Happy Hour Fundraiser for the Victims of the Mumbai Terrorist Attacks as Part of Its No Reservations Giving Program

Thursday, January 29, 2009 – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
New York • San Francisco • Chicago
Candlelight vigil for the terrorist attack victims

Join us at Chartres Lodging hotels in New York, San Francisco and Chicago to help raise funds and awareness for the victims of the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks. Proceeds and donations collected from the January 29 events in each city will go to the nonprofit American India Foundation (AIF), which will direct funds to the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust, the Oberoi Care Fund, the Bombay Community Public Trust and other Indian charities and organizations providing direct and immediate relief to the victims and families impacted by the tragedy.

Can’t join us on January 29? Consider making an online donation to the American India Foundation.

DONATE NOW at www.aifoundation.org/donate/default.htm

In support of this effort, AIF has reduced its administrative fee to just 2 percent of donated funds, significantly
lower than induIstry standards. AIF’s tax ID number is 13-4159765.

Checks made payable to the “American India Foundation” can also be sent to Chartres Lodging, 50 California St.,
Suite 3300, San Francisco, CA, 94111. Please write “NRG Mumbai Relief Fund” on the memo line, and include
donor’s mailing address and email for delivery of a donation receipt. All donations are tax deductible as
permitted by law.

The Need. Hundreds were killed and injured during the recent terrorist attacks at nine sites throughout
Mumbai. Since the terrorists intentionally targeted hotels and tourist locations, those of us in the hospitality
industry want to reach out to our counterparts in India that are the most in need of relief, including hotel,
police, fire and security employees and their families.

The Event. Signature Chartres Lodging hotels in each city will host a happy hour fundraiser between 6 p.m.
and 9 p.m., featuring authentic Indian food, a raffle of prizes donated by local merchants and industry partners,
and a presentation by dignitaries and members of the local Indian community.

The Response. Already, a number of our friends in the industry have stepped up to join us in the relief
effort, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels, Kimpton Hotels, Taj Hotels and Highgate Hotels.
Special thanks also goes to the many local businesses, dignitaries, entertainers, airlines and even India‐based
businesses who have donated to the happy hours and raffles, including Cornell University alumni, Tamarind,
Diwan, Darbar, Harry Denton, Kingfisher, Quebb, Trinity Investments, Café Spice, Kuwait Airways, Continental
Airlines, Air India, Jet Airways and Qatar Air.

Our Partner. American India Foundation (www.aifoundation.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit American
development organization committed to accelerating social and economic change in India. One of the largest
secular, nonpartisan U.S. organizations supporting India, AIF has invested in more than 100 Indian nongovernmental organizations since its inception in 2001.
