Bio:
Priyanka Mathew is the director of Aicon Gallery New York; in addition she oversees Aicon Gallery Palo Alto. She has worked closely with Indian Artists since 2004 and is currently focusing on expanding her expertise of Contemporary Pakistani art. She has served as director of Aicon Gallery since 2005, where she has overseen organizing and installing over 35 exhibitions of some of the subcontinent's foremost artists as well as representing their work at global art fairs including Art Dubai, Art Miami, Istanbul Contemporary, Art Hong Kong and most recently at Pulse New York. She has worked previously in the financial world at Lehman Brothers and then at Goldman Sachs (2001 -2005). She helped run an off-Broadway theater company called 'Alter Ego' in New York from 2003-2005 where she was involved in producing 4 critically acclaimed shows off-Broadway including the New York debut of Tom Stoppard's 'Indian Ink'. She has been a 'working group' member of the Indo American Arts Council where she led their theater and art initiatives from 2004 - 2006. She has a BS in Economics and a BA in Drama from the University of Virginia.
