SIDE STREETS

FESTIVALS: Sundance, Venice, Seattle, Srockholm, Calcutta SYNOPSIS: "Side Streets" is set over twenty four hours in the hottest day of the summer in the five boroughs of New York- Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. Five tales are woven together with intercoimecting lives and chance encounters.

DIRECTOR: Tony Gerber was bom in New York City. His debut feature "Side Streets" had it's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and its U.S premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. He recently won an Emmy Award for his work as the Supervising Producer of AMC's "Behind the Screen". A graduate in Film at Columbia University, Tony now teaches screenwriting there. Gerber's next film is "Disobedience", produced by Christine Vachon's Killer Films ("Boys Don't Cry").

CAST: Shashi Kapoor has starred in over 250 films including "The Householder", "Shakespeare Wallah", "Heat and Dust", "The Deceivers" and "In Custody". Kapoor now runs the Prithvi Theater in Bombay, as well as Film Valas, which has produced several award-winning films. Valeria Golino is one of Italy's most popular stars best known for her roles in "Rain Man";"Hot Shots!" "Immortal Beloved" and "Four Rooms." Shabana Azmi is considered to be one of India's finest actresses. International audiences know her work in "Madame Sousatzka", "City of Joy", "Fire" and "In Custody". Art Malik, was bom in Pakistan and raised in England. Well known for his performances in American and British Television (including
"The Jewel in tlie Crown", his film credits include "A Passage to
India", "True Lies" and "City of Joy". Born in Zambia to Yugoslavian parents Mirjana Jokovic wowed critics with her performance in Emir Kusturica's "Underground". Her film credits include "Vukover" and "New Jersey".
