The Guild has been promoting works of Iranna G.R., Arunanshu Chowdhury, Heeral Trivedi, Nikhileshwar Baruah, Pooja Iranna, Prasanta Sahu amongst others - an underlying commitment to promoting socially relevant art.
Shalini H.Sawhney, Director of the Guild would like to quote the following by Daniel J.Hall, Chairman of the Board Hallmark Card Inc which she says reflects some of their thinking.
"These activities (art Shows) reflect a fundamental belief in the importance of the arts to our quality of life and our cultural well being, Art - in any medium - is about the communication of ideas and emotions, the unending dynamics of change, and the power of imagination. Art represents a synthesis of tradition and innovation - and a respect of both - in order to express fundamental truths about our time and place. Now at the end of the twentieth century, it is more important than ever to remember that art is about individual freedom and the natural diversity of ideas in complex world. Works of art bring a new perspective of familiar things by encouraging us to see through the eyes of others. In addition art represents the creative voice of our past, reminding us of the values and ideas that were important to previous generation. In various ways the best of these ideas remain a vital part of who we are today. For all these reasons we consider the support of fine art to be a natural part of good corporate citizenship and is way to encourage society at large to better recognize and support its creative heritage"
The Guild has recently opened a branch in New York, with the aim of promoting Indian Contemporary Art and Artists, both here and abroad. The gallery has shown recent works by younger artists, a show by Vidya Kamat, and is currently showing the works of Bhupen Khakhar, from a private collection.
