Vijay
Seshadri's collections of poems are "Wild Kingdom"
(1996) and "The Long Meadow" (2004), both from Graywolf
Press. He has received grants from the New York Foundation for
the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the John
Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and has been awarded
The Paris Review's Bernard F. Conners Long Poem Prize, the
MacDowell Colony's Fellowship for Distinguished Poetic Achievement,
and the Academy of American Poets James Laughlin Prize (2004).
His poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in AGNI, The
American Scholar, Antaeus, Bomb, Boulevard, Lumina, The Nation,
The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Shenandoah, The Southwest
Review, The Threepenny Review, Verse, Western Humanities Review,
The Yale Review, the Times Book Review, the Philadelphia Enquirer,
Bomb, The San Diego Reader, and TriQuarterly, and
in many anthologies, including "Under 35: The New Generation
of American Poets," (Anchor-Doubleday), "Contours
of the Heart" (Asian-American Writers' Workshop), "Staying
Alive-Real Poems for Unreal Times" (Miramax), "Best
American Poetry-1997" (Scribner), "Best American Poetry-2003"
(Scribner), and the "1999 Anchor Essay Annual" (ed.
Philip Lopate). He currently teaches poetry and is the director
of the graduate nonfiction writing program at Sarah Lawrence
College.
