The artist: Brij Sondhi, Meerut, India |
What started as a burst of creative energy with Brij Sondhi 47 yrs ago has now become a consuming passion. Brij M. Sondhi painted his first piece when at college, which led first to his maiden solo exhibition, and then to greater creations.
Being an engineer by profession and an artist by preference, Brij started and continues to paint without formal training, which makes his creations an expression of his untutored creative urge and a manifestation of his unfettered personality. Being essentially a people's person, his earlier sketches and oils were portraits of faces that lingered in his memory. He has moved now to landscapes and scenes that carry an essential resonating theme- water and bear inspirations from his travels through Africa, Asia and North America - his canvases revealing an artist's interpretation of the mundane.
