The film marks the debut of Ranbir Kapoor (son of actor Rishi Kapoor) and Sonam Kapoor (daughter of actor-producer Anil Kapoor) and is based on Dostoevsky’s short story ‘White Nights.’ Saawariya is being pegged as the biggest film of the five day festival which will showcase 70 films and is expected to close with another big star cast film – ‘The Last Lear’ by Rituparno Ghosh which has Amitabh Bachchan playing an ageing Shakespearean actor. Mira Nair, Ismail Merchant, Deepa Mehta, Gurinder Chaddha and Nagesh Kukunoor have all presented their films at the festival. Definitely not a bad place for two aspiring actors to begin their B-Town journey, right?
