During his 20 years of dedicated music training Anurag listened and learnt from some of the greatest exponents of Hindustani music namely Pandit(s) Bhimsen Joshi, Chandrakant Apte and Kumar Gandharva. His songs are based on North Indian classical music but improvised to appeal to a wide audience. Gifted with rare vocal dexterity and a very wide repertoire of songs, he performs his concerts with accompanying tabla (Indian drums) and harmonium (Indian reed organ). Anurag can sing effortlessly in all three octaves. His song titled "Guruji" (translation: O’ Master) has been remixed by leading DJs in Europe and USA and is perhaps one of the rare Indian classical tracks that is widely played at dance clubs around the world. Anurag is among the youngest upcoming vocalists of the new generation and has performed at leading venues including the Royal Festival Hall and Nehru Center in London. His first ever live concert was at the age of 4 when he gave a 45 minute solo performance and became the youngest regularly recorded and broadcast artist on Indian radio.
At Carnegie Hall Anurag will perform a variety of self composed songs including musical poetry in Urdu and Farsi, Shayri, Fast Taranas, Bhajans, Khayals, Thumris and improvised versions of classically based film tunes.
