Aruna Sairam

One of the great classical music voices of India, Padma Shri Aruna Sairam is the most sought-after vocalist of Carnatic (South Indian) music today. Her style "celebrates life in all its colors and all its emotions," and is rooted in the devotional songs from the temples of South India. With her deeply moving performances, she has created a large Western audience for Carnatic music.
