Established in Singapore in 2004, Bodhi Art is acclaimed as one of the most progressive galleries specialising in Contemporary Indian art. Bodhi Art's mission is to promote and present Indian art to the global market. Mr Amit Judge, founder of Bodhi Art stresses on the importance of his goal and says, " Our main objective is to encourage and internationalize contemporary Indian artists and their works; and to establish a sold dialogue between Indian art and the rest of the world."
This September, Bodhi Art Gallery is entering the U.S. art circuit. With it's 6000 sq feet space in the heart of Chelsea, Bodhi Art will make it's grand debut with leading artist Atul Dodiya's exhibition. It's walls will feature a collection of exclusive works on paper from Dodiya's successful travelling show, "The Wet Sleeves of My Paper Robe ( Sabari in her Youth: After Nandalal Bose)".
Since the opening of it's first gallery in Singapore in 2004, Bodhi Art has been dedicated to supporting artists and has become renowned for hosting exhibitions which reflect Indian art at it's creative best.
In the past two years Bodhi art gallery has carved a unique niche for itself in the contemporary Indian art scene. With two galleries in India and one in Singapore, New York was the next obvious destination for Bodhi Art. The new gallery will provide:
- A 5000 sq feet space for exhibitions showcasing the most creative works from Indian artists and bring the best in internationally acclaimed Indian art to New York and the U.S.
- An expanded education program: The aim is to educate a wide audience on Indian contemporary art and set up an archive library, create documentary DVD's on artists and also hold special events and panel discussions with a people centered approach in an eloquent setting.
- An open platform that will serve as a focal point and learning center for curators, gallery owners and collectors.
With it's high ceilings and movable walls the gallery promises to tell the story of Indian contemporary and modern art in an exciting new context. With this inaugural exhibition, Bodhi Art will change the way Indian art is perceived in the U.S and will promote Dodiya as the star and the gallery as a promotional venue. |
