Sandip Bhattacharjee
Sandip Bhattacharjee Sandip was born into a family with a deep rooted love for music. He was initiated into music by his mother Smt. Krishna Bhattacharjee at the age of four and he continued his talim under Smt. Amita Dasgupta later.

At the age of sixteen, Sandip began his talim at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy under the distinguished guidance of Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, sons and disciples of the late legendary Sarangi Maestro Padmashree Ustad Shakoor Khan.

In 2003 he joined ITC-SRA as a residential scholar and in 2012 he became an acknowledged musician at the academy.

Under both his gurus, Sandip was nurtured in the true guru shishya parampara system of training in the Kirana Gharana. Sandip has accomplished a rare feat: he has lived up to the promise and talent he showed as a child prodigy. Although he does not come from the family lineage of Kirana Gharana, Sandip has become a respected proponent of that gayaki style through his training and hard work.

Along with his music, Sandip also holds a Bachelors degree from Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata) in classical music, where ranked First Class First. Other than pure classical music he is highly skilled in singing numerous semi-classical forms like Bhajans, Ghazals, Nazrulgeeti and other regional songs as well.

He has performed on stage with many renowned musicians, including Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Sultan Khan, Vidushi Girija Devi, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, Pandit Shiv kumar Sharma ,Pandit Hari Prasad Chourasia, Pandit Rajan Sajan Mishra, Pandit Jasraj, and Ustad Zakir Hussain. He has been honored to share the stage with the Kathak Legend Pt Birju Maharaj at John Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, USA.

Sandip has to his credit 3 commercial releases: first was a CD on Khayal by Sonic Octaves, Mumbai. Then came a CD of Bengali songs by R.P Techvision, Kolkata and third, a CD on Bhajan by Sonic Octaves, Mumbai. He has just released a fourth album of Khayal by Bihan Music.

Gifted with a robust voice, Sandip is today one of the most promising young classical artists of the country, which is borne out by his regular performances across India and abroad (United States, Europe and Bangladesh). A recipient of the Title Surmani from Sur Singar Sansad Mumbai, Sandip also broadcasts regularly over the All India Radio as an “ A “ Grade artist.

His scintillating Taiyari in the Taans and Sargams have been lauded and appreciated by listeners and musicians everywhere. Apart from being a very able performer Sandip is also a well liked teacher of music. He travels regularly to Guwahati, Tinsukia and Digboi where he has a substantial following of students in Indian classical music. Sandip has been a faculty member at AAICM in New York since 2013.
