Faces of Tomorrow
Children of India

Faces of Tomorrow, is an ongoing photojournalist project established by photographer Diana Barnett to document children around the world in disaster and in need. Faces of Tomorrow gives voice to the children's struggles and just
as importantly promotes the NGO's (non-governmental organizations) that are working to improve their lives.

This exhibit is of the work of Barnett's most recent trip to India, after an earthquake in January 2001, devastated the lives of its citizens. This show, presented by The Indo-American Arts Council, is the first public display of Barnett's work. This gifted photographer and humanitarian has traveled the world to record the plight of children in order to educate the public, the media and government agencies. While working with a few NGO's Barnett's
main focus was with Save the Children - India (STCI) and their program on Earthquake Relief and Rehabilitation.

The exhibit details Barnett's experiences as she made her way through different areas with a representative from Save the Children-India. Visiting schools, care centers and hospitals they began in Vondh Village, which is located in the city of Bhuj, the earthquake's epicenter. Barnett's travels continued on to Adhoi, Gandu, and Kunariya, the village of artisans.

Barnett's photographs show the resiliency and optimism of the men, women and children of India, and upon viewing her work you will be as amazed as she was at the constant smiles and enthusiastic graciousness of these people even in the worst of conditions.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be sent to Save The Children - India and the Faces of Tomorrow project
