On A Muggy Night In Mumbai is not simply the first play in Indian theatre to handle openly gay themes of Love,Partnership, Trust and Betrayal. It is a play about how society creates patterns of behaviour and how easy it is for individuals to fall victim to the expectations society creates.
The action moves between the present and surreal images of the past. The story centres around Kamlesh, a successful fashion designer in Mumbai and his relationship with his sister Kiran, her fiance Ed and his own ex lover.
Compelled by a growing sense of isolation and clinical depression in a city that is teeming with life and vitality, he decides to gather his friends to seek support. As the evening progresses, inner and outer conflicts colide as the truth finally emeges on a night of confrontations.
