Musician/singer/songwriter/MC Tasneem A.
Nanji , recently received her Bachelor's degree from NYU where
she majored in jazz performance. Since landing in New York City
she has played in popular local bands backing the R&B trio
DIORGEN and as a member of the alternative-soul band Venus Square.
Tasneem now lends lead vocals, piano, saxophone and guitar fronting
the alterna rock/hip-hop band JUNGLI .
Tasneem has been featured on MTV'S Total
Request Live Hip Hop MC Battle and in the indie feature film Cubamor.
As a rapper, saxophonist, and assistant musical director she became
a cast member in the off broadway hip hop music theater dance
project THE BEAT written and directed by Kamal Sinclair of STOMP
and Robbie McCauly. She was also a featured guest lyricist at
Carnegie Hall's performance of "Bang your head to Liszt "
a debut from guitarist Joshua Seth. Tasneem has performed at many
of New York's top venues and colleges including Joe's Pub, CBGB's,
Columbia University and Hunter College, S.O.B's, The Cutting Room
and Time Cafe. She counts John Coltrane, Sarah Vaughn, Stevie
Wonder, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bollywood & Dave Matthews as
musical inspiration. |
