Synopsis:

A happy, young Tamil family of three settles in the United States from India and hires American painter Theodore Robertson (John Shea) to paint the basement of their new home. Unbeknownst to them, this painter is also a psychotic pedophile. As he starts playing a cat and mouse game to snatch their precious daughter Rithika (Akshaya Dinesh), Malini (Sneha) senses danger signals, whereas her husband Senthil (Prasanna) discounts them as her imagination running wild. When the protagonist finds the truth, things go out of control and the family is taken captive in their own home. A chilling climax unfolds how they come out of Theodore’s ferocious clutches.

Director Arun Vaidyanathan:

Director Arun Vaidyanathan's Achchamundu! Achchamundu! is the culmination of two decades of a dream and hard work on celluloid. With no escape from the creative bug, Vaidyanathan took an instant liking to the arts from childhood. Having found his calling, he quit his job and chose to study the nuances of filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in 2003. Subsequently, he worked on short films that have been screened at many film festivals around the world. A mix of global cultures and philosophies has molded Arun’s creative ideologies. He seeks to make a niche for himself by replicating this in his movies and marrying the East & the West. This is the key underlying theme of Achchamundu! Achchamundu!, which is his first feature film. A psychological thriller, the film has already been accepted to many other international film festivals and has received a number of awards. Even as his many-year dream comes to fruition with Achchamundu! Achchamundu!, it is only the beginning of another of Arun's dreams: to transcend parochial borders, and make films for everyone.
