On Tuesday, June 8, the Indo-American Arts Council and
Carnot Books USA will host an autographing of Sonal Vimal
Ambani's new book, Mothers
& Daughters. All proceeds from the
sale of copies will go to raise money for the Cancer Screening
and Research Trust.
On hand to participate in the signing will be a number
of prominent Indian women who have contributed to Mothers
& Daughters. A stunning photographic
journal, the book provides rare insights into the private
worlds of these women achievers, who include Shabana Azmi,
Arundhati Roy, Sheila Dikshit, Shobhaa De, Sullaja Firodia
Motwani, Simone Tata, Sushmita Sen, Hema Malini, Kiran
Mazumdar Shaw, Deepti Naval, Neerja Birla, Sudha Murty,
Sushmita Sen, Gurinder Chadha, Mallika Sarabhai. Its 156
pages are lavishly illustrated with black-and-white photographs
that capture the essence of their femininity as well as
their inner strength and beauty.
These women represent all ages and all corners of India
with backgrounds as diverse as politics, business, sports,
and the arts. Mothers and
Daughters showcases their relationships
with their mothers and daughters, two of the most complex,
beautiful and wonderful relationships that exist.

Mothers & Daughters
not only recognizes this special relationship and unconditional
love, but also acts as a reminder for making women aware
of the need for regular cancer screenings and early detection
so that this precious bond may never be lost. The book
recounts the special relationship they share with each
other, recounting anecdotes, reminiscing about Mothers
& Daughters also provides information on cancer and cancer
screening centers in India.
Mothers and Daughters
was edited by Sonal Ambani, whose dynamic career has earned
her a reputation as a successful entrepreneur. As an Assistant
Vice President at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, she made
recommendations to senior management that had significant
impact on corporate objectives and the company's overall
financial condition. Currently, Sonai is currently working
on her PhD in business management. She has written two
patents: Systems and Method for Providing Financial
Services to Children and Teenagers and Purchase Management
Systems and Electronic Receipts.
When her own mother developed ovarian cancer, Sonal was
inspired to contribute to current efforts at early detection.
Her goal is to ensure preventive cancer testing for women
everywhere.
The Indo-American Arts Council
is a 501(c)3 registered not-for-profit arts organization
dedicated to promoting, showcasing and building an awareness
of Indian artists and artistic disciplines (visual arts,
performing arts, literary arts) in North America.
CARNOT BOOKS
is a dynamic new publisher of original trade books. Titles

The benefit will be held at Gallery Arts India, located
at 206 Fifth Avenue, on the fifth floor, between 7:00
