The 11th Annual New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) is one of North America's most prestigious destinations for feature films, DOCUMENTARIES, and shorts from and about the Indian subcontinent. NYIFF features a mix of film screenings, discussions, industry panels, nightly parties, an awards ceremony, and gala red carpet events. NYIFF is a once-a-year opportunity to network with artists and leaders from the global film industry, and to experience the rich film cultures of the Indian subcontinent. FILMINDIA brings together, in one place, media/marketing/entertainment professionals, producers, actors and global media entrepreneurs for a series of networking panels on the growing US and Indian entertainment industries during NYIFF 2011.

Synopsis:
For the fourth year, the Indo American Arts Council (IAAC)/NYIFF present FILMINDIA a series of panel discussions on film production in India. US and Indian media and entertainment companies and professionals are collaborating, merging, sharing, co-producing and tapping each other’s talent and content as never before to capture the growing global audience. Join fellow US and Indian industry professionals, media entrepreneurs, producers, talent, and those just interested in the industry in exploring changes and opportunities in the industry.
 
FILMINDIA is organized and co-presented in cooperation with KPMG; New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT); and South Asians in Media, Marketing and Entertainment Association (SAMMA). Additional support from TiE Tri-State.

This panel features prominent female filmmakers who discuss the challenges and opportunities of making films in India. They also discuss their approach to their craft as women and what advantages and challenges being women adds to their filmmaking.
