Hum Dono Rangeen Directed by Amerjeet
India 1961. 2 hrs 44 mins. Hindi (with English subtitles)
Cast: Dev Anand, Sadhana, Nanda
Hum Dono Rangeen was restored and colorized using Legend Film's proprietary colorization process. The process has consistently been lauded as the the highest quality color conversion technology in the world and has been used extensively on Hollywood feature films over the past 10 years. Invented by Dr. Barry Sandrew in 2001, it represents the latest iteration in digital colorization technology which he originally invented in 1987. The process uses an unlimited palette of colors that is applied in the most minute detail. Color design is created at the pixel level and carried through in the entire feature film. Hum Dono Rangeen was one of the latest colorization projects using the technology and it is considered light years ahead of Mugal e Azam in the quality of it's color artistry and overall design. Mugal e Azam was colorized several years ago using an antiquated and inferior process. The colorization of Hum Dono Rangeen was executed by Jagan Mohan at Goldstone Technologies, a technology licensee of Legend Films under the collaborative eye of Legend Films engineers and technicians. It lives as the finest example of Bollywood colorization that exists today. Legend Film's colorization technology has most recently been adapted for the conversion of 2D feature films to 3D. The process was used on "Alice In Wonderland", three feature films for Dreamworks and it is currently being used to convert four new Hollywood feature films for 2011 releases. The 3D process is currently being considered for the conversion of Hum Dono Rangen, which will further enhance the value of this invaluable Bollywood classic, giving it new life for future generations of audiences.
