If Rahul the rockstar has got the voice and the looks, Vishal, the writer has the brains. If Malvika, the fashion design student and biker chick can get heads turning with just her looks, Preity, the photographer, can say a million things with her pretty pictures. What Vishal and Preity can’t do, is spell it out to Malvika and Rahul that they heart them. But ‘Liking’ someone on Facebook is a lot easier. And when you can’t make it on your own, the best thing to do is to fake it. So, Vishal becomes Rahul and Preity becomes Malvika by taking their identities online and they start fraaandshipping each other. They chat, 'like', tag and LOL together and do a great job of pretending to be someone else. But, the question remains, how long can you fake true love? In short, Rahul loves Malvika. And Malvika loves Rahul. But Rahul is not Rahul. Rahul is Vishal. And Vishal loves Malvika too. But Malvika is not Malvika either. Malvika is Preity. And Preity loves Rahul. But Preity hates Vishal. And Vishal hates Preity.
Mujhse Fraandship Karoge was produced by the youth arm of Yash Raj films.
Nupur Asthana, a literature graduate from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University did her post graduation in Mass communication at Sophia College, Mumbai University. She then assisted veteran filmmaker Ketan Mehta on two features and learnt about the craft of cinema on the job. Her film debut with Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge comes after directing some of the most successful television shows in the youth space. The most recent one was Mahi Way, a slice of life romantic comedy about a large girl who learns to deal with her weight issues. Produced by Yashraj Television, it was nominated in several categories at the ITA and Indian Telly awards and won some as well. Hip Hip Hurray the teen fiction series was the first independent work that she directed and wrote as well. It became a runaway smash hit that is still fondly remembered to this day. Hubahu, the story of twin sisters exchanging lives and Time Bomb an action adventure extravaganza are two miniseries that Nupur directed as well for primetime television.
Program Note:1 minute Mobile Bollywood: Cell Phone Cinema shorts from students of New York University, under the supervision of Prof. Karl Bardosh, have been making Music Videos with their own interpretation of popular Bollywood sound tracks. For NYIFF 2012, students of the NYU Tisch Kanbar Institute of Film & TV will make one minute cell phone films with the subject: Music in Indian Film.

Hollywood in your palm. That is what this combination of lectures, screenings, demonstrations and practical production workshop will offer to the students in this course.
In addition to the historical and critical overview of the emergence and exponential growth of global cell phone cinema, students will shoot all footage on cell phone and download for computerized editing. The final project will be under three minute shorts.
Projects will include all genres of film and television: news, mini-documentaries, animation, music videos and narrative shorts. All completed student projects will be posted on the Internet and entered into domestic and international mobile phone film festivals to compete for prizes.
