The 12th Annual New York Indian Film Festival, presented by the Indo-American Arts Council, runs from 23-27 May 2012.
The Opening Night 5/23 red carpet screening is the New York Premiere of Bedobrata Pain’s “Chittagong”.
Set in 1930′s India, Chittagong is based on the true coming of age story of a 14 year-old boy, Jhunku, involved in the populist movement that ultimately defeated the British army.
Other noteworthies from the festival line-up include the World Premiere of Rituparno Ghosh’s “Chitrangada”, and the US Premiere of Anurag Kashyap’s “Gangs of Wasseypur”.
With a children’s screening, retrospectives, industry panels and after parties, this year’s NYIFF looks like a winner — with something for everyone.
