NFDC recommended, an Official Selection, being screened on 9th May 2014 at NYIFF

Mrs. Scooter – an independent Hindi feature film directed by Shiladitya Moulik and produced by S2S Productions & Neon Light Pictures, has started its journey with an official selection at the New York Indian Film Festival 2014 .

"Mrs Scooter" is RECOMMENDED BY NFDC – invited by the NFDC FILM Bazaar at GOA IFFI 2013 and is surely one of the movies to look forward to in 2014. Mr Aseem Chhabra, Festival Director NYIFF,has personally picked the film for the festival's consideration, from the NFDC Film Bazaar in November last year.

The film is based in a small town in western UP, and speaks the language of love with a bittersweet touch. The brooding and melodious soundtrack, the hinterland humour, and the richly art-directed voyeuristic frames are the pillars that hold together a realistic and gripping story of love and resilience of a Bride and a Scooter, caught in the midst of a difficult social situation. The story is about how the unpredictable hand of fate helps their intertwined story comes full circle, with a touchingly happy ending.

Mrs Scooter has power-packed performances by National Award Winner Anjali Patil of 'Chakravyuh' fame (National Award Jury Mention for Telugu film Na Bangaaru Talli, 2014), and the extremely talented Satyakam Anand from Gangs of Wasseypur II, with some amazing new talents picked from the National School of Drama alumni.

Debutante Director Shiladitya Moulik is an ex-advertising Creative Director, and has also co-written the screenplay based on a colleague's story idea (Deepak Nagar). Shiladitya has remained influenced by world cinema, and already has a Bengali feature film Maa, based on Maxim Gorrky's Matb sceened at Moscow and Nandan, Kolkatta) and several shorts under his belt. He opines, "We are one of the talked about films in the prestigious list of NYIFF this year. That is a win already. But Mrs. Scooter is not in NY to just win any trophy. I believe it will certainly win some desi and firangi hearts. The story of Mrs. Scooter is timeless and I sincerely hope that the Indians and American viewers enjoy Mrs. Scooter alike."

The film has soulful music by debutante Avinash Baghel, who has also scored for the background, and the music is a unique palpable character in the movie – contemporary yet indigenous. The lyrics are by Protiqe Mojoomdar (I am Kalam, Babloo Happy Hai) and Abhishek Chatterjee (Rakhtacharitra) and the songs are almost a nostalgic departure from contemporary Bollywood and lend the music a certain old world charm, that still emanates from the nooks and crannies of small town India.

Celebrating its 14th year, NYIFF, widely recognized as the oldest, most prestigious Indian film festival in the US showcasing some of the greatest talents working in the diaspora, will run May 5th  to 10th at a variety of prestigious New York City venues

Mrs Scooter will be screened on 9th May 2014, and will compete with films like Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly, Gajendra Ahirey’s Marathi film Postcard, Suman Mukhopadhyay’s Shesher Kobita, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Lakshmi and Naseer starrer Pakistani entry Zinda Bhaag.
