About the Festival

The second annual IAAC:Film Festival featuring the Indian Diaspora promises to be just as exciting and well attended as the inaugural event last year. The festival is a compelling mix of celebrity film makers such as Mira Nair and Ismail Merchant as well as fresh new visions. Last year, the event created quite a stir, and has quickly become a 'must attend' for the South Asian public as well as the film community. A quick survey of last year's attendees indicates an interesting and unusual spread over a wide age from 18- 54 year olds, indicating the strong appeal of good and innovative independent films. This sophisticated group included executives, professionals and independently wealthy individuals with a demonstrated appreciation for art, literature and good living. This year we anticipate the festival attendance growing from 3,000 attendees as its reputation grows.

A spectacular Opening Night Gala on Wednesday November 6th will be held at a townhouse that was the former home of legendary actor Montgomery Clift. An exotic and appetizing buffet will be catered by Chefs flown in from the exclusive, five star Oberoi Hotel chain in India. The invited list of celebrities include Uma Thurman, Shabhana Azmi, Ismail Merchant, Mira Nair, M.Knight Shyamalun and Deepa Mehta.
