        ARTIST STATEMENT

I, Anna Bradfield, am an emerging artist who combines fine art painting with found object collage to bring new life to both. My work explores reclaiming and recasting the beauty inherent in found objects by melding them with personal stories through painting, collage and textile. This fresh combination of styles echoes the pluralism of my multicultural background. Half Indian and half English, I have an appreciation for the richness of diversity and detail. My visual art is also the product of an ambidextrous brain. Studying Fine Art at Chelsea and Slade Schools of Art in London, I achieved a Masters degree from Cambridge University. A 10-year career in advertising shaped my love of storytelling and unique perspective as an artist. Through a process of alchemy, my work combines representational images of people and places with the textures that reflect their points of view. The finding adds a magic only possible with the circumstantial nature of reclaimed objects. By using collaged memorabilia and re-appropriated artifacts, my work solicits a journey to experience the emotional worlds of my subjects that reveals itself much like the layers of applied materials. My practice of searching and responding to what I find proposes that the work itself is something revealed through a process of discovery, appropriation and assemblage. The resultant very textural nature of my paintings means they best experienced in physical encounter. So another of my central themes is creating more opportunities for honest art experiences in the age of mass media digital reproduction. |

        Objective

A fine art painter with a professional background in strategic creative thinking, I seek to bring my passion for working with children and underserved communities to practicing and teaching art in progressive, inspiring ways. 10 years experience in marketing communications honed an aptitude for presenting and mentoring, skills I leverage in sharing my process in the context of digital and physical communities.
