        ARTIST STATEMENT

I live in Mission Viejo in southern California. I was born in India and spent my early life in New Delhi. Living in India predisposed me to a intense, warm colors and light.

My artwork is representational. Representing the human form in a painting is a challenging process for me, in abstract or otherwise, but it is offers a highly expressive language for dialog with the viewer.

I like to work with oils on canvas. My recent paintings deal with the human impacts of global integration. The physical and temporal mashing of cultures and thought can be seen and felt in the bewildering cast and the unprecedented etiquettes of coexistence - Angeles Inc., Save the Mermaid and Hereafters Inc. are part of the recent series – Age of Dislocation - that project the angst of entering a new age.

I work with a local and independent Southern CA galleries and do solo and group shows when possible.
I am represented by Vango Art a San Francisco based Web Gallery; in 2015 Vango designated me Master Artist based on the feedback and overall response to the artwork.

In 2014 and 2015 I participated in a group exhibition – Erasing Borders 2014 and 2015, sponsored by the Indo American Arts Council (IAAC) and curated by Vijay Kumar. Erasing Borders was hosted by several New York based venues, including the Queens Museum, Crossing Art Gallery, the National Arts Club and Hammond Museum.

During August 16 I am planning solo show at India Habitat Center’s (IHC) Visual Arts Gallery in New Delhi.
