Flavors Beyond Borders Food Fest celebrating India & Pakistan's 60th birthdays, l Aug 14-15, 2007
   
   

Event Theme
FLAVORS BEYOND BORDERS” is an event that aims to bring the people of India and Pakistan on the momentous occasion of their 60th independence day. This historic event will use FOOD and MUSIC as a medium to spread the message of peace, brotherhood and harmony among the people of the two nations. People from across the border will feast on a hearty meal specially prepared by renowned chefs of the two nations and enjoy the musical performances by acclaimed singers.

Date: August 14th, 7.30pm onwards

Event Highlights

  1. A 20+ item buffet meal including the best of foods from India and Pakistan. Some of the dishes to be included in the Menu are
    Green peas croquet, Salmon Crab Cakes, Malabari Chicken with chutney,
    Grilled Lamb Chops, Murgh Chana, Haleem, Biryani, Chicken Methi, Achari Ghost, Kadahi Paneer, Aloo Gobhi, Daal Bukhara, Shahi Tukda, Kheer, Spiced Truffles

      
  2. The food will be prepared by famous chefs such as Chef Vikas of Purnima, Chef Hemant of Devi, Chef Rawat of Bukahara Grill and Chef Hari Nayak, besides others.
       
  3. Keynote Address by Samina Ahmad.
      
  4. Ghazal/Fusion Music performance by vocalist Vishal Vaid. Vishal Vaid is a highly acclaimed singer who mixes traditional ghazal music with modern rhythms and sounds.
      
  5. A musical performance by Asif Ali, noted singer from Pakistan.
      
  6. Recitation of the national anthems of both countries by Rabindrasangeet and fusion singer Isheeta Ganguly.
      
  7. The program will be hosted by Kiran Khalid, freelance TV reporter and Sree Srinivasan of SAJA.
      
  8. A Goodwill message web campaign is being run on www.ifood.tv. The messages written by internet/ifood.tv users (the numbers of which are expected to cross thousands) will be printed on a special poster and presented to the Presidents/Ambassadors to the UN of both countries. Our goal is to get 10,000 messages from the users and these will be printed on a life size poster. So, common, get typing and "Say something nice" about the event and its effort to promote integration of the two communities.

Program of Events

7.30 pm. Ticket pickup and sign-in begins.
7.45-8.15 pm. Appetizers and beverages served for arriving guests.
8.15-8.30pm Welcome address
8.30-9.00pm Ghazal Performance by Asif Ali
9.00-9.15pm Chefs Address the Audience
9.15-9.30pm Keynote Speaker Samina Ahmad to address the audience
9.30-10.00pm Dinner is served (Buffet Style).
10.15 - 11.15 pm. Music performance by Vocalist Vishal Vaid.
11.15-11.30 Recitation of the National Anthems by Isheeta Ganguly
11.30 -11.40 Closing messages.
11.45-12.30 After party with song and dance

Event Tickets
This is a ticketed event. The tickets are priced at $30 (Student Ticket - must present valid Full-time student id at the gate), $50 (level I) and $75 (level II). The tickets are being sold through a secure online payment gateway powered by Sulekha. Click here to purchase tickets.
