Award-winning Kathak dance artist and singer Bageshree Vaze performs selections from her CD 'Tarana' (released as 'Khanak' in India) highlighting the North Indian dance style famous for its sparkling pirouettes (chakkars), intricate footwork, and dynamic movements.The two pieces are reminiscent of dances performed in the 17th century 'darbar' or royal court era of India. 'Tarana' highlights rhythmic language of the Kathak style: Tukde, tihais and footwork. 'Lucknow's Jewel' highlights 'gat nikaas,' the court dance that is a signature item in the Lucknow style of Kathak.
