MIAAC Filmi Glamour Infuses Our NYC Air Once More…

Shor
Yes, it is THAT super exciting time of the year once more! The Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival hits NYC this Wednesday, November 10th and stays around the Big Apple to make our nights sultry and our days electrifying until Sunday, November 14th. If you think you can miss it, think again! Yet once more, IAAC Executive Director Aroon Shivdasani has outdone herself, with the help of her programming director L. Somi Roy and her public relations partners at Jingo Media.

Smita PatilThis year, in its tenth edition, the festival features a fantastic opening night red carpet US premiere of the film Shor - Noise - starring Sendhil Ramamurthy and Tusshar Kapoor, then a fabulous closing night selection in Cooking with Stella by Dilip Mehta, a thought-provoking festival centerpiece Memories in March, starring Rituparno Ghosh, a wonderful festival sidebar on Smita Patil and loads of mindblowing films, panels and after-parties in between. I have booked my tickets to every single event and I hope you’ll do the same. I can definitely count on being exhausted by the festival’s end, but glowing and happy from all the film education and viewing five days can allow.

MIAAC 2010 Film Festival

For a list of celebrities attending, it would actually be better to open your current copy of Filmfare magazine, since the red carpets for both the opening and closing night films, as well as the centerpiece and the festival sidebar, will be chock-full of the who’s who of modern Indian cinema. Scheduled to appear on opening night are Tusshar Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Mani Ratnam, A.R. Rahman, Salman Rushdie, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Mira Nair, Madhur Jaffrey, Sarita Choudhry, Aasif Mandvi, Rituparno Ghosh, Aparna Sen, Padma Lakshmi, Nandana Sen, Vishal Bhardwaj, Sabrina Dhawan, Lisa Ray, Rahul Bose, Samrat Chakrabarti, Manu Narayan, Ajay Naidu, Tracey Jackson, Deepti Naval and tons more, too plentiful to remember.

But you must get your tickets now, since the NY Times just announced the line-up for the festival and you know seats will be going fast. See you at the movies! For all info and tickets, check out the MIAAC Festival website. For a teaser of the films and fun, check out the video below.
