The movie will be screened at SVA Beatrice Theatre on November 13th at 6pm. ‘The Japanese Wife’ is a trilingual movie with a mix of English, Bengali and Japanese languages. This film with duration of 105 minutes was released in India on April 9, 2010. Rahul Bose, Raima Sen, Moushumi Chatterjee and Japanese actress Chigusa Takaku played important roles in the movie.
As per the Saregama Films, the movie had an 88% initial collection with the release of only 32 prints. The DVD of the movie was released in India just after a month of its theatrical premiere. It was done to avoid piracy.
The story of the movie is very simple, yet, heart rendering. Snehmoy (played by Rahul Bose) and Miyage (Chigusa Takaku) become pen friends and they share every little thing of their lives. Eventually, they fall in love and take wedding vows through letters only. Interestingly, Snehmoy belongs to a remote village of Bengal and Miyage somewhere in Japan. They maintain their relation for 15 years even after staying miles apart.
Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee plays the role of ‘masi’ of Snehamoy, who has brought him up since childhood. It is a beautiful and unique love story and will surely touch everyone’s heart in the MIAAC film festival.
