Indo-American Arts Council
For a great weekend activity with the kids, Mommy Poppins suggests the family portion of the Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council (MIAAC) Film Festival. The screenings, which will be held at The School of Visual Arts Theater on Saturday, November 13 feature two selections. At 3 p.m., The White Elephant profiles the story of Nathan, the Holy Elephant, who chooses a town drunk, Shabri, as his new keeper. The other villagers resent Shabri and he struggles with the new responsibilities. Throughout the film, however, Shabri finds inner strength, spurred by the magnetism of Nathan. At 3:30 p.m., take a look at the first 3D animated film to come out of India, Ramayana: The Epic, a full-length feature film based on one of the most well loved traditional Indian stories.
Buy tickets for the first film here and the second here. Get more information on the Indo-American Arts Council at their website.
