The MIAAC Film Festival opened with a bang Wednesday night in New York City as the movie Noise drew actors like Autograph director Srijit, Pooja Kumar, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Samrat Chakrabarti, Padma Lakhsmi and Noise actor Sendhil Ramamurthy to the red carpet - and of course DesiHits! was there to chat with everyone! When we spoke to Autograph director Srijit told us he was very excited about seeing Noise during the opening night of the festival and revealed to DesiHits! that his favorite noise is a CD being inserted into a CD player and "the noise of the button being pressed because that is the gateway to much more beautiful sounds."
Actress Pooja Kumar chatted to us about U.S. President Barack Obama's recent visit to India and said she thought his meeting - and hug! - with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was amazing and let us in on a secret; her fav noise is "when my dad yells at me and says I still love you."
Road, Movie actress Tannishtha Chatterjee talked to us about the changing nature of Bollywood movies and mentioned that a lot of last year's movies were out of the box and that "they are getting more and more popular." What's Tannishtha's fav noise? "I don't like noises," she told us, before revealing, "if you can call music some sort of a noise then it's music."
Samrat Chakrabarti said coming to the MIAAC Film Festival this year was "like a homecoming" because he has two movies showing so "it's a great year for me to be here." When asked about his fav noise, the composer and actor put on a show for us and beat boxed! Tripe threat!
Top Chef host Padma Lakhsmi told us she thinks it's great that the MIAAC Film Festival exists because it shows "a different kind of cinema, independent Indian cinema that is also made in America with Indian content and Indian actors." The actress who recently had a baby girl and who revealed she is currently busy with her TV show Top Chef and told DH! her favorite noise is "the sound of my child laughing."
We obviously had to ask Noise actor Sendhil Ramamurthy what his fav noise is and here is what he had to say: "I have two small kids so silence is probably my favorite noise." He added, "let me think of a noise that I like...I'm a big fan of pop tarts and I like the sound of the toaster when it pops my pop tarts out in the morning."
