New York, November 10, 2010: The Tenth Annual MIAAC Film Festival opened amidst fanfare on the 10th of November this year giving the Indians based in New York an opportunity to enjoy various feature films, documentaries as well as the short length films to the fullest.
As the MIAAC gets underway, the audience lines up hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars who help to regale the local Indians with their avid discussions apart from showcasing their scintillating talent on the screen.
The evening initiated with the pre screening cocktails and the red carpet event was abuzz with a host of stars from India. The festival opened with the screening of Shor (Noise), which was received extremely well, and set the stage for the showcase of Indian diaspora cinema in the next fews days to come.
The cast and crew of the film were present in full force with Nikhil Dwivedi of ‘Raavana’ fame and Tusshar Kapoor, one of the main leads being in hot demand. Sendhil Ramamurthy another one of the protagonists along with Preeti Desai and Radhika Apte, the female leads held fort at the discussion sessions leaving the viewers immensely satisfied with the day’s outcome.
The actual screening of ‘Noise’ (‘Shor’) at the SVS Silas theater proved to be a huge success with practically every seat being taken as the audience waited with a sense of heightened anticipation for the film that had managed to win the Best Short Film Award of 2008 so convincingly.
The realistic yet funny portrayal of a chunk of everyday life in Mumbai by the director duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK held everyone’s attention as the reels unfolded with three apparently unrelated incidents that take place during the joyous and chaotic occasion of the Ganesha Festival.
A crime drama with a satirical twist had its moments of laughter and the audience appeared to have been satisfied with the start which just happened to whet their appetites for more to come in the next couple of days.
The Benefit Dinner at the Metropolitan Pavillion turned out to be a gala event with celebrities galore. The dinner was a resounding success as well with the likes of the noted actress Seema Biswas, director par excellence Mira Nair and Ekta Kapoor gracing the occasion.
Rahul Bose, Sundaram Tagore, Arun Vaidyanathan along with the other stars were seen enjoying their time mingling with their appreciative fans at the dinner party. The cast of ‘Noise’ (Shor) joined in as well and avid discussions followed with the strains of

wafting in courtesy ‘Darunam’.
The centerpiece film , ‘Memories in Mach’ is scheduled to be screened on the 12th of this month with the screening of ‘Cooking with Stella’ and an awards ceremony marking the end of the week long film festival on the 14th. MIAAC, which enters its 10th year of celebrating the spirit of India through its intense and colorful films successfully, has announced its presence with a bang yet again.
