`Shor In The City' is making the right noises
March 29, 2011

Mumbai, March 29, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) `Shor in the City' is due to be released on April 28, 2011 and is effectively distributed by Balaji Motion Pictures. It is considered as a satirical drama. It is not only directed and edited, but the screenplay is also developed by legends of Indian cinema; Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. The producers are honourable Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. This movie is composed of multi-stars in lead roles. Tusshar kapoor, Alok Chaturvedi, Preeti Desai, Sudhir Chowdhary, Pitabash Tripathy, Sundeep Kishan, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Nikhil Dwivedi and Radhika Apte are part of the star cast. The vibrant background music of this film is composed by Roshan Machado.

`Shor in the City' is combination of three dynamic stories that are loosely connected and are set amongst the noise as well as grime of a metropolitan city; Mumbai, especially during the festival of Ganpati. This movie comprises of two contrasting characters. On one side viewers can find Abhay, who is an outsider to this crowded city and he is impelled to accept that he is alone because this city is purely unwelcoming for him. Though he nestles in a comfortable shell but soon realizes that he is one of those individuals who mill around this elite city.

On the other side, there is Tilak who comes out to be an honest bootlegger though his buddies have to effectively pull scams for their living. Though Tilak tries to relocate the meaning of life in one of his books that are bootlegged but he truly cannot read much of it. By stroke of luck, they achieve a golden chance to loot guns and explosives in a local train which is usually a rare incidence.  Although they instantly decide to have a good bargain for these ammunitions but it eventually leads them to a dangerous avenue. They are offered a literal blasting bomb in an empty place which is otherwise quite difficult to be relocated in this overpopulated city.

The third and magnificent character in this film is young Sawant whose main ambition is to get into cricket team of Mumbai. It is inevitable that in a city were corruption is incorporated in each and every step of living; the dreams will also have their own price.

As the film denotes, characters finally come in terms with an unbounded noise which has covered the environment from within and outside.  This metropolitan city which efficiently runs on its adhoc rules will not offer an opportunity to individuals to select either of the dual options; bad or good. In other words, this overpopulated urban landscape which essentially forms the backdrop of this amazing film offers a blurred vision to wrong and right. It specifically tries to imply that the basic need for living of people in this crowded city is primarily to survive as well as succeed.

This grand and gritty movie `Shor in the City' was proudly an official selection in the Pusan International Film Festival as well as Dubai International Film Festival. It was even honoured with best director award at MIAAC that was graciously held in New York.
