ELIGIBILITY: Films may be submitted in either of the following two sections:
Diaspora Films: Films made by filmmakers of South Asian origin living outside India; or Projects by non-South Asians with South Asian content, cast or crew.
Independent Films: Projects from the Indian Subcontinent with a unique voice/message and considered Independent by the industry.

FILMMAKER AGREEMENT
This is to certify that I, _________________________ am applying to the MIAAC Film Festival after accepting all conditions and requirements.
- I certify that my film is eligible for this festival and that
I am aware of the criteria that apply.
- I am aware that, if accepted, I will not be able to withdraw my film.
- I am aware that if accepted I can not have a screening in the New York area with any other festival, nor can I have a commercial screening in the New York area before the screening at the MIAAC Film Festival.
- I understand that it is my responsibility to provide, upon acceptance, - a press kit with film stills, reviews, synopsis, length, screening format, cast & crew, filmmaker pic & bio;
- posters and postcards for display;
- a 3-minute trailer for a compilation DVD handed to press and industry executives and
- screening masters (BETA SP or 16/35 Prints)
- I understand that is I wish to enter my film in competition, I must provide 4 screener copies of my film to the MIAAC Film Festival.
- I am responsible for all mailing costs.
- I f accepted, I will provide a good print in the format requested by November 1, 2009.
- I will be invited for the Opening Night film screening and will walk the Red carpet.
- I will also recieve a full-access pass for all festival screenings, parties, panels and discussions, closing night screening/award ceremony/party. I am responsible for any additional ticket purchases (additional screening tickets, opening night gala dinner).
- I will be present for the press conference and my own post- screening Q&A.
- I will be present for the Closing Night Red Carpet Screening and Award Ceremony.

Films will not be considered unless complete information has been recieved.
PERTINENT INFORMATION ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Festival was attended by over 10,000 film lovers and attracted unprecedented media attention. Some of our past festival projects have been/won awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, IFP Market, Mumbai International Film Festival, Breakthrough Human Rights Film Festival, MOMA Directors' Fortnight series and many more.
All day industry panels organized by IFP, NYWIFT, MIAAC; nightly networking parties, post-screening discussions, red carpet galas, 8 achivement awards presented at the Award Ceremony, industry participation, media attention, outreach events, and packed audiences are the hallmark of the MIAAC Film Festival.
Previous festivals have showcased a wide range of South Asian film-makers from veterans like Mira Nair, Deepa Mehta & Gurinder Chadha, Nagesh Kukunoor, Ketan Mehta, Shyam Benegal to relatively new voices like Shonali Bose, Nisha Ganatra, Smriti Mundhra, Ali Kazimi, Ashwin Kumar , Manu Rewal and more.
