Actors Talk Films at Mahindra Film Festival Press Conference
November 06, 2009

Well, well, well! Look who has come together to talk about the Mahindra Film Festival's movies. It is the actors and actresses from the film themselves. They got together yesterday at NYC's Aicon Gallery to address the press about their films that will be screened at the annual Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council.  The NY based film festival features five days of exciting screenings of Indian independent and Diaspora films, red carpet gala events, post-screening discussions, industry  panels, nightly networking parties,  and more.

Desi Hits! was on site to get the DL about the films that are featured in the festival from the actors themselves.  Glam girl Pooja Kumar expressed to us how her films can resonate with large audiences.   " A lot of us can identify with interracial couples," said the actress in regards to her film, " Drawing the Chalk," where she plays the role of an Indian woman in an inter-racial marriage who is trying to help her husband  realizing his dreams that are interfering with adult responsibilities.  This is one of two of Kumar's films that will be played at the festival.  Kumar's other film "Bombay Beats" is also one of the screenings.

Actor Aasif Mandvi from the popular U.S. Comedy Central program The Daily Show with Jon Stewart shared with us the joy of working with Hindi film star Naseeruddin Shah in the movie "Today's Special."  "We shot the film in Jackson Heights and it was cool when people realized that Naseeruddin Shah was right in their neighborhood," said the actor. Actress Sarita Chowdhury  and producer/actor Sanjay Suri  also graced the event. Check out the pictures from the event and share your thoughts!
