ANIL KAPOOR (PRODUCER):
As one of the most versatile and successful actors in Hindi films, Anil Kapoor has
entertained audiences for more than twenty years as a top film star. Since his debut in
1983 with the film ‘Woh Saat Din’, there has been no looking back for this fine actor
who has garnered a fan following the world over, thanks to his finely nuanced
performances.
His memorable performances in the film Mr.India which was produced by his father,
Mr.Surinder Kapoor and directed by Oscar nominee Shekhar Kapoor (Elizabeth), was
one of the biggest blockbusters of all times. As a recipient of the National Award and
multiple Filmfare Awards, he has always believed in reinventing himself as an actor and
exploring new genres of films.
His dynamism, professionalism and talent have been the benchmark for many a young
actor entering this industry.
Coming from a family that has been involved in the business of film making for the past
50 years, he brings thorough knowledge and wide experience to the art and craft of film
making.
He forays into independent production with his banner Anil Kapoor Films Company
and brings to the audience a film named Gandhi My Father, a story that gives a
fascinating insight into Mahatma Gandhi's life; not so much as the father of the nation,
but as a father to his son Harilal. As a producer, Anil Kapoor believes in setting
international standards for his films.
FEROZ ABBAS KHAN (WRITER / DIRECTOR):
At the forefront of Indian theatre today, Feroz Abbas Khan is recognized as much for
exploring new forms, as for bringing Hindi theatre, mainstream recognition. In a career
spanning more than two decades, he has directed some of India's finest acting talent, both
from stage and cinema.
From the intensely contemplative to the utterly exhilarating, from autobiographical one man shows to two character plays to full scale musicals….his pioneering productions
have traveled extensively in India and abroad. His plays have been staged to packed
audiences and international critical acclaim. The Lincoln centre and the United
Nations in New York, the Memorial Hall-Stanford University, the Universal Studios
Amphi-theatre in Los Angeles, the Waterman's Arts Centre in London and the
Durban Playhouse in South Africa are some of the theatres he has performed at. He
continues to travel wit his powerful plays to Europe, North America, Far East Asia,
Middle East, South East Asia and South Africa.
As the first artistic director of the prestigious Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai, the
throbbing hub of the young, the talented and the restless; Feroz was instrumental in
introducing the concept of International Theatre Festivals in India.
Proficient in various languages, he blends the Eastern tradition of story telling with
Western sensibilities and modernity. His production of Peter Shaffer's epic play 'The
Royal Hunt of The Sun' and the recent contemporary Indian adaptation of Arthur
Miller's classic 'Death of a Salesman' are considered landmark events in Indian theatre.
His English theatre production of Mahatma v/s Gandhi created a sensation wherever it
was staged. Major newspapers in India wrote laudatory editorials, news channels like
BBC and NKK in Japan featured it in their prime time news and The New York
Times called it “The finest English play to emerge from India in a long time.”
With 'Gandhi- My Father' Feroz makes his first foray into the arena of motion picture.
DAVID MACDONALD(DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY) :
Brussels based David Macdonald studied photography at the London College of
Printing And is today one of the most internationally sought after cinematographers in
the world.
Having worked extensively on commercials and feature films, David's work includes
cinematography for Ridley and Tony Scott, Bob Brooks and Barry Mires. At the
young of 26 he photographed ‘One Brief Summer’ for director John Mckensie. One of
his recently challenging works was as the Lighting Designer for the Body Zone, the
interior of the giant human body in London's Millennium Dome. He has won numerous Gold and Silver Lions at the Venice Film Festivals as well as a string of German prizes.
He has also done lighting for live music events for artists like Santana, Ray Charles,
Lionel Hampton, Willie Nelson and the Beach Boys. Specialising in the field of
special effects, high speed and macro photography and motion control. David has in
depth knowledge of digital post production. He has co-directed (with Andy Hamilton)
and photographed the comedy series, Who Dare Wins.
As a teacher he has inspired a generation of cinematographers.
SREEKAR PRASAD (FILM EDITING):
Chennai born Sreekar learnt editing from his father and subsequently started his own
state of the art editing studio. Over the years, he has edited more than 200 feature films
in various Indian languages and innumerable documentaries.
He edited the film 'The Terrorist', which won the best film award at the Cairo Film
Festival and was critically applauded at the Sundance Film Festival. He has won the
National Award six times for Raakh (Hindi 1998), Raag Biraagh (Assamese 1996),
Naukachritiamu (English documentary film 1996), The Terrorist (Tamil 1998),
Vanaprastham (Malayalam 1999) and Kannathil Muthamittal (tamil 2002). He also
won a number of regional state awards and the Filmfare Award for the path breaking
'Dil Chahta Hai'.
NITIN CHANDRAKANT DESAI (PRODUCTION DESIGN):
Four time National Award winner art director, Nitin Chandrakant Desai has to his
credit the Oscar nominees Salaam Bombay and Lagaan. His international credits
include Amok (French), Jungle Book, Kamasutra and Such A Long Journey.
With over ninety feature films to his credit, some of his significant works include
Parinda, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, 1942 A Love Story, Khamoshi, Maachis, Ishq,
Deewane, Dillagi, Jung, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Pyar TO Hona Hi Tha, Dr.
Babashaheb Ambedkar, HuTuTu, Mission Kashmir, The Legend of Bhagat Singh,
Devdas, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., Khakee and Swades, Eklavya, laage raho Munnabhai.
He has designed innumerable sets for television and won several awards for them. Kaun Banga Cororepati, the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire drew
unanimous acclaim.
His newly opened N.D. Studios mark the advent of sound stage shooting of
international standards in India.
His present assignment includes ‘Jodha Akbhar’ where he has recreated the Mughal Era
constructing sets to actual size and scale.
RESUL POOKUTTY (SOUND RECORDING & DESIGN):
From being a student of law, Resul gravitated to the Film and Television Institute of
India ( FTII ),
Pune, specializing in Sound Recording and Sound Engineering. Since 1995, he has been
specialising in Sync Sound Recording for films in India, a rare practice in Indian films.
He has recorded sound for various documentaries for BBC, Channel - 4, Norwegian
Television, Dutch Television and various other independent projects and short films
from Europe and America.
He won The Zee Cine Award for the Best Audiographer of the Year for the film
Musafir. His work in the film ‘Black’, set a new benchmark and in 2006, it won all the
major awards for Audiography and merited laudatory praise in the American
Cinematographer.
