Born 1937 Kolkota.
Lalu Prasad Shaw is a print maker and a painter with a smooth and seamless aesthetic. His work features mostly portraits of Bengali women that are rendered minimally with uncomplicated and lucid lines. His use of color is limited and understated, and his works have a quiet and intimate feel.
He has exhibited in India and abroad for over five decades, and his work has been featured in the British Biennale in London in 1970, the Norwegian Print Biennale in 1974 and 1978, the seventh Paris Biennale in 1971 and the Asian Art Biennale hosted by Bangladesh in 1984. He is also the father of the established artist Partha Shaw.
The artist lives and works in Kolkata.
