South Asian visual artists donate their work for an IAAC Benefit Auction
Created to strengthen upcoming arts programs



(New York, NY – October 15, 2010) More than a dozen South Asian visual artists have donated precious works of art for an Indo-American Arts Council benefit auction taking place on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Sundaram Tagore Art Gallery at 547 W. 27th Street in Manhattan. The auction preview will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the auction will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Sotheby’s Director of South Asian Art Priyanka Mathew, formerly Director of the Aicon Gallery, will serve as the auctioneer for this live auction.

“Unfortunately, whenever things are tight, arts programs are always the first to be cut” says Aroon Shivdasani Executive Director of the Indo-American Arts Council. “We, at the IAAC, need to raise money to fund our artistic programs We hope New Yorkers will come out to support this worthy cause – our passionate mission to give artists from the Indian subcontinent a platform.”

The participating artists include: Alka Raghuram, Amina Ahmed, Anjali Shrinivasan, Antonio Puri, Asha Ganpat, Fareen Butt, Haresh Lalvani, Kathryn Myers, Nandini Chirimar, Nitin Mukul, Niyeti Chadha Kannal, Raghava KK, Reeta Gidwani Karmarkar, Ruby Chishti , Samanta Batra Mehta, Shelly Bahl, Veru Narula, Vijay Kumar, Vinod Dave.
